Bringing together isolated communities in Staffordshire through the love of gardening, creating and cooking.

Get outside, breathe in the fresh air and feel the soil between your fingers.

Growing Communities is a project by Nurture Community CIC with support from Brand Remarkable, Worship Food and Emma Cooper Artist. The project is funded by Tesco and Transition Lichfield.

We aim to grow community connections through engaging creating and cooking events. The outcome will be our very own Plant and Create Cookbook to ignite a passion for gardening and cooking and to grow social interaction across the generations.

Connecting Generations

Participating groups in 2023 will be Fun Hub Club CIO and The Spires (Barchester Healthcare). By working with groups of diverse ages we plan to bridge the gap between generations and grow new intergenerational connections.

More than a million older people say they go for over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour or family member.

Growing Together

Homegrown food is super healthy and tastes amazing! When you grow from seed you get to try all kinds of diverse, colours, shapes and varieties of vegetables. All this while reducing your carbon footprint and supporting local wildlife and biodiversity.

We believe that sowing, nurturing and harvesting your own food is one of the most rewarding things you can do and that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy this special kind of magic.

Wonderful Wildlife

Many British animals and insects are in decline so anything we can do to help them is extremely important. Attracting wildlife can help keep your garden healthy by pollinating plants and eating pests. Even the smallest spaces can become a safe haven for wildlife. Click here to find out more.
